Pujos: More than a Game

Crowds flock the St. Cardinals stadium every year. Not for the hot dogs and pretzels, but to see one man hit a home rome: Albert Pujos. Not only is the the most amazing player, but boy, can he hit home runs! In the book, Pujos More than a Game by Scott Lamb and Tim Ellsworth you can't help but be in awe of this legendary baseball player who ranks up there with the best of the best baseball players.

In this book, we see a very in depth look at Albert Pujos. Believe me, if you love sports, you want to read this book. Having a husband whose been a St. Louis Cardinal fan since childhood, I knew I wanted to read this book as well as give to my husband as a Valentines Day gift.

For Albert Pujus, it is more than a game. I can't recommend this book enough to everyone out there!!! I was given this book free to read but give my review with 5 Stars!

Wild at Heart Review

I recently got the opportunity to read Wild at Heart, by John Eldredge. I can't say this is a book I would read again but for someone struggling with their marriage, this could be a very helpful book. John Eldredge. As I was reading this book, I seemed to wonder if there were more opinions than truth. His thoughts versus what is based in the Scriptures. I can't say I can give this book a high recommendation but at the end of the day, each of us might think differently. Take this review with a grain of salt and read the reviews on this book to decide if you would like to read it.

I've been a Christian for many years and want solid evidence if someone is telling me something. This is definitely a book that I would want to verify the truths behind what he says. Everyone has opinions on different things. Don't take his opinion for law: check the facts!

I hope people will read this book to get their own opinion. Men and women are complex issues for sure. Don't be afraid to question something he says in the book. You will learn about your husband and men in general. This could be a very helpful book.

Plan B: Pete Wilson

When I first go the opportunity to review Plan B: by Pete Wilson, I wasn't quite sure what I would uncover when I open the book. I've never had the opportunity to hear about this man, but after doing a quick search I realized he really knows what he's talking about. So, I had no problem really diving myself into this book.

First, and foremost, this is a wonderful book to give someone who is just starting their live: graduates, new parents, divorcee's...etc. There are so many life changes that really can mess us up if we aren't fully prepared. This book covers these life changes and helps us know how to deal with them.

The truth is that Pete helps us understand that we can't avoid these changes, but we can learn to deal with the hurt, frustration, and disappointments along the way. If you are struggling with a life change, this book is for you and you will learn great tips!

Remember, life often catches us by surprise. If we can learn to handle those changes as Pete Wilson offers us, we can really learn to tackle situations better! No matter what situation you are going through, this book can help you get a game plan to be prepared on dealing with big life issues!

Recipes for Life Cookbook

If you love cookbooks of all shapes and sizes, this is a winner. Although not particularly bog, this cookbook is full of recipes that are worth trying.

Recipes for Life” is written by John Arthur Ivey. When I got this cookbook I wasn’t quiet sure about it as it was quite simple. I was pleasantly surprised as this is a wonderful collection of recipes that remind me of down South. If you’ve ever been down South, you expect to find cornbread, greens, pinto beans, and lots of yummy desserts.

This cookbook doesn’t fail as there are delicious recipes in there. Each recipe is thoroughly explained; along with detailed list of what is needed for the recipe. On many of the recipes, there is a helpful note given at the bottom of the page. I found this not only to be helpful but I began looking for those notes as they are great additions to each recipe.

This cookbook is a collection of Rosia Lee Ivey’s recipes. I found this to be a thoughtful way to celebrate his mother’s life; one that the entire family as well as others can enjoy for her talented recipes. At the top of some of the pages, there are one line quotes that I found quiet enjoyable and unexpected.

All in all, this is a cookbook I will be holding onto. Not only for the yummy desserts but for the times that I want to journey back to the South for some good ole’ cooking.

Walk like You Have Somewhere to Go Book Review

Walk like You Have Somewhere to Go Book Review

Here’s my promo: I loved this lady the second I read that she taught her kids that education is a must. No matter what you want to do in life, you need education. The moment I read that she taught this to Shaquille O’Neal, I knew this book would be a winner.

Walk Like you Have Somewhere to Go by Lucille O’Neal, is a story that really reveals much about herself, her family, and the man we know as Shaq. She begins the story with a walk through her life which is a true amazement. Any single mom out there can understand her story, her mission, and her dreams.

The wonderful part about this story is, even though this is about her life, she incorporates Shaquille’s journey to success all along the way. I loved that he included his family on every part of the walk of fame journey. He didn’t leave his family out to dry after he found success. Instead, he took them along with his amazing journey; giving them gifts, houses, etc. This is a man who had a firm foundation and has taken his life to greater heights because of it.
There are many wonderful parts to this story but I am going to talk about only a few of them:

• I love the Scripture verse that begins each chapter. I was able to take a moment, read the verse, and then dive into that chapter. Each time, I could understand why she picked that particular verse.
• I adored the pictures throughout the story. I found this to be as if we were watching a movie of her life.
• Her favorite Scriptures at the end are fabulous for anyone who can understand and appreciate where she has walked. Let’s face it. There are many single moms out there could use some Scriptures of hope. She gives them very eloquently.

When do read this:
As this is a thorough journey, I suggest reading this at different times. This is definitely a book to come back to, read in small parts.

The Voice New Testament Book Review

The Voice New Testament Book Review

As soon as I received my copy of The Voice, I was presently surprised. I knew I was going to be reviewing a Bible but I wasn’t deterred. The Voice is not only a new translation and format, but is beautifully written in such a way that is easy to read.

The Voice is very much a devotional Bible. Some translations are not only hard to read but the wording is just down right full of The’s and Thou’s.

Here are a few things I love about The Voice:
·
It    Italic Types – This is where Italics identify words not directly to a dynamic translation of its original translation.  I like this because it gives info on what is happening when it is writing. Whether it is the fact that Matthew is talking to the Jews or that Paul was speaking to specific people. It all flows together to help the reader understand the purpose and meaning of the Scriptures.
·
Screenplay format shows clearly who is speaking. I have never seen this done before and I really enjoyed it.
I absolutely believe that this will become my new Devotional Bible. Since I’ve had it, I have gone to it on multiple occasions. This is worth buying!

Under the Big, Blue Sea Book Review

There is nothing more fun that getting a book in the mail to review. I have a full bookshelf of books for the kiddos, so I was overjoyed to do a review of the book, “Under the Big, Blue Sea by Aunt T.

For those looking for a new author, I definitely can give this book a thumbs up! Great for readers up to 5 or 6. Under the Big, Blue Seas, by Aunt T, is published by Dorrance Publishing Co. Inc. ($13.00) with 19 pages. As soon as I pulled the book out of the box I was impressed with the look of the book. The front cover is sure to impress kids and make them want to read this.

This book is an informative book about animals under the sea. Some of the different animals discusses are: dolphins, seahorses, octopus, shark, whales, and sea turtles. I found the information about each animal to be informative and intriguing. There is just enough information to keep a child’s interest, along with a photo to further intrigue them.

Although this a short book, I found it was definitely a book that I would read to a child. To make the book longer, on the left side of the page there is the phrase: “What is under the sea? … This was along with a big question mark and some ocean water. It was the same page all through the book. The right page had the picture with information about the sea animals. I enjoyed the right side of the pages more than the left. Overall, I still give the book a thumbs up!
